IMPORTANT information below for officials this year...

YOU ARE CERTIFIED UNTIL DECEMBER 31 this year with your last year course.

ATTENTION: ALL PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE REFEREES

Are you interested in being a hockey referee?  Williams Lake Minor Hockey is looking for people like you to JOIN OUR TEAM of great refs.  It is a great opportunity to:
1. Increase your knowledge of the game!
2. Get some extra ice time/exercise!
3. Give back to hockey!
and at the same time:
4. MAKE SOME MONEY!
HOW TO BECOME A REFEREE:
Anybody born in 2010 or earlier (turns 11 or older by December 31st, 2021) is eligible to take the courses to become a referee.  There are two pathways to becoming certified to referee:
NEW REFEREES

New officials will have to complete the online "Hockey University 1/2" courses, then will have to complete an in-person certification clinic prior to going on the ice.  We don't have the dates for the in-person clinics yet, but they will be tentatively scheduled for a weekend in October.

RETURNING REFEREES
Returning officials will be required to complete an online recertification course available over zoom.  If you were a certified official last year, you are certified to referee until December 31st, 2021.
If you are interested in becoming an official, or have any questions about it, please reach out to the Referee-in-Chief, Chris Ford (contact details below).  If you were a previously certified official and are not receiving communications and updates, or are a new official that wants to be added to the mailing list, please contact:

Recertification Instructions:

Hockey is back!  With WLMHA rep tryouts starting this week, we're edging closer and closer to games and a return to normality.
With that, it's time for returning referees to recertify with Hockey Canada.  Of course, it wouldn't be another year in hockey without a bunch of changes, particularly from the old epact website to the new Hockey Canada website. To help out, I've gone through the process so you can follow these steps to recertify this year.

1. Go to https://register.hockeycanada.ca/home

2. Click on "LOGIN" in the top right corner

3. If you already have the HCR account set up, you can sign in.  If this is your first time on the account, click on "SIGN UP"

4. Enter in your information as requested

5. A verification email will be sent to your email address to log in.  Agree to the user agreement

6. You should be now fully logged in to the new website.  Before registering for a clinic, you have to link your Hockey Canada number.  In the top right, click on the "face" icon, then click on "MY ACCOUNT"

7. Click on "LINK A MEMBER".  You can link your account using your name and birthdate, or your Hockey Canada number. Once your info is entered, click on "SEARCH".  Find your name, then click on "LINK THIS MEMBER".  On the "Relation" Tab, scroll to the bottom and click on "SELF"

8. You should now be linked up for the Hockey Canada Registration.  To check your past qualifications, you can click on "MEMBERS", then click on the profile that has been linked with your Hockey Canada number (the second one).  Clicking on "QUALIFICATIONS" should show you all the courses you've taken.

9. Click back to https://register.hockeycanada.ca/home  You may have to click "LOGIN" again to have you logged in.  Once you're logged in, click on "REGISTER FOR CLINICS".  Scroll through the list to find a clinic that works for you.  If you can't attend any of the clinics, there will be more scheduled in the future.

10. Follow the steps to register for a clinic.

Please remember that even if you are unable to attend a clinic right away, you are still qualified as an official until DEC 31, 2021.  Please schedule your recertification clinic as soon as possible.  I was able to register a referee for a clinic next Saturday without much of an issue.  It will be done via online zoom meetings.
If you have any questions or troubles, please contact me and I will do my best to help out.
Thanks,
Chris Ford
